Exposure-based approaches
Exposure-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that helps people gradually face fears, anxiety triggers, and distressing thoughts in a safe, supportive environment. It is commonly used to treat anxiety disorders, social anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Often incorporated into cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure-based approaches help reduce avoidance behaviors and build confidence in managing difficult situations. Through guided practice and skill development, individuals can lessen fear, improve daily functioning, and strengthen long-term coping abilities.
